THE NEW TRAIN
In the late 1980's, the Pixie Woods train was burned by juvenile arsons because they were refused free admission. Damages cost the tax payers of Stockton $125,000 for a new (used) train. Replacement of the tunnel added to the cost. Here is a news clip of the new train's arrival.
Puppet shows have always been a main attraction to Pixie Woods. During the park's very early years, local talent provided short productions that were recorded on records. Here is a recently discovered recording of "Little Red Riding Hood", one of Pixie Woods most popular shows. The piano used in this show, dates it circa 1957. Pixie Woods proudly owned one of the first electronic portable pianos, which sported a painted smile. Click the icon below to hear this rare recording.
